Construction
Basically its all by hand.
The culms are split rather than sawn.
The split sections are hand planed and not milled.
The method used is pretty much as described in Mr. Garrisons extraordinary
book Building A Bamboo Fly Rod.
There
are a few variations, just personal touches.
Planning is usually done on
an adjustable jig although the more popular tapers are shaped on set wooden
formers.
The glue used is phenolic resin
Varnish is Polyurethane
Eyes
are Hopkins & Hollaway
American pattern snakes
All whippings are silk
Ferrules and reel seats are supplied by R E C
(there
are a few sites giving excellent information on rod building in the
links section)
